Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skills and passing their art on to their students. Here at The Peaceful Warrior School we have ONLY adult instructors, there are no children or teenagers teaching our students. Our studio is family owned and family run, we have two instructors (Sa Bom Nim Greg Mateo and Kyo Sa Nim Shannon Mateo) with a combined 30 years worth of experience in the martial arts.

Greg Mateo  (Sa Bom Nim)  Head Instructor

Mr. Mateo has been training in the art of Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan for over 20 years. He has earned the rank of fourth degree and the title of Sa Bom Nim (Master Instructor).  He began his training with the U.S. Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation in New York. While with them, he was given the opportunity to train with several well respected Masters such as; HC Hwang (current Grand Master of the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation), Daniel Bannard and Leslie Mussington. It was the training received with these men that gave him the tools he uses today to instruct his own students. After teaching for many years under different instructors and with the encouragement from Master Mussington, he opened his own Do Jang in Indian Trail, North Carolina in 2006, The Peaceful Warrior School.
Although not with the U.S. Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation any longer, he still strives to pass on the spirit of Hwang Kee's philosophy and teachings to his own students. Sa Bom Nim Mateo's passion for teaching has lead him to be the first school in North Carolina to successfully develop a class specifically for children on the Autism Spectrum in the Charlotte area. He has also designed a unique curriculum for seniors to build energy, strength and stamina.
Sa Bom Nim is not only an instructor but also a life long student as well. To his students he teaches the following philosophy; Never Stop Learning. He is currently an active student in the Gracie Jujitsu Academy and takes private Tai Chi lessons as well. He stridently believes the more he learns, the better teacher and student he will be.
